I’ve always lived a healthy life and found myself constantly giving nutrition and fitness tips to others. I decided to make this love affair official by receiving expert training as a Board Certified Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, a Holistic Nutritionist through AFPA and studying under Dietician Keri Glassman becoming Nutritious Life Certified. I am also an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with the world’s top health and wellness experts. My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Utilizing these skills and my knowledge of different dietary theories, I work with clients to help them make personalized lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.
Health is so much more than food–it’s all the areas in our life that feed us and creating awareness around those choices is what I strive to empower you with. When you make your wellness a priority, huge positive changes begin. A nourishing life is created with loving relationships, a fulfilling career, an exercise regime you enjoy and will stick to, and an uplifting spiritual practice. Don’t worry I won’t get all “What’s your sign?” on you. Hey, one of my spiritual practices is taking my dogs to the dog park and watching them run around like fools. That fills me up way more than a kale smoothie!
My Story
I grew up competitively dancing. I even was on Star Search chattin’ with Ed McMahon–four stars, baby! I ran cross country and track (wearing 2 sports bras because Lululemon didn’t exist back then), and learned all about weight lifting from my older brother and the wrestling team. While getting my degree in Broadcast Journalism at ASU, I personal trained and took a handful of nutrition and health classes for fun. I loved offering advice to my friends… or any stranger at the bar who complimented my biceps as I reached for my drink.
If you haven’t guessed it yet, I’m a balls-to-the wall kind of girl. In most situations it’s an admirable quality, but with drinking–not so cute. In college decided to take a three month breather and “get my sh*t together.” I didn’t imagine I’d feel so amazing, so I went for a few more months, then a year. At that point I felt incredible and positive changes came from my choice. Here I was exercising and eating well, and there was still a lot room for improvement in my overall health. I learned first hand how swapping unhealthy habits for better ones make all the difference in your life. Instead of shots of tequila, it’s lemon-ginger or wheatgrass. Cheers to that!
After graduation I worked in the entertainment business as a host for fitness shows, working as the correspondent for the Camp Pendleton Mud Run and performing improv and stand-up comedy. Now I’ve taken that love of entertainment and married it to my true passion: educating others on health and wellness while keeping it fun. I create health/fitness/wellness videos on my YouTube channel, which always include a healthy dose of humor and cameos of my two rescue dogs. I volunteer with Operation Blankets of Love (they donate comfort items to shelters and rescue organizations throughout the LA area) because my mission is to improve the lives of people and animals. Wagging tail and doggy kisses raise your endorphins more than any cocktail or Girl Scout cookie ever could.
I am constantly working on bettering myself and learning more in all areas. Don’t believe me? Check out my nightstand. It looks like a book display at a health fair! I look forward to learning more about you, too!
xoxo,
Jill 🙂
